Things to do on your London stayaction

Welcome back!

Today this post is going to be all about staycations! A staycation is a vacation spent in your home country. I know I know this seems boring, but trust me it isn’t and I’m going to tell you why. A few weeks ago, I met up with some of my girls for a staycation. We rented out the most gorgeous Airbnb in London.

Our Friday night began with being in awe of the lovely decor in the house, sipping wine and catching up and also agreeing on a plan for the next day. After much deliberating we decided on crazy golf in West End at a place called Swingers.A bit of window shopping in Oxford Street and then homemade dinner before our night out on the town at a club called Toyroom.

Staycation: The Apartment

The photos do not do this apartment justice,  it was GOALS. The location was great, it was away from it all, but we could easily get a train to central in about 20mins. The host was super friendly too and had an awesome book collection. I will certainly be taken decoration inspo from this great apartment.

Swingers

Crazy golf was good fun and it was really funny to see how competitive we got. I, of course, won in the end so I left a happy girl (cue victory dance). Swingers is a great place to bring a group of friends or even as a date night. Within the establishment, there is a bar and food, so you can drink, socialise and play golf! It’s located just behind Oxford Street, but they also have another in East London. Usually, it’s advised to book your spot but they do also offer spots on the door. Also, don’t forget to bring ID (like I did) as there is a bar you need to be over 18 to go in.

Dinner for 5, please

We had food at home, the majority of it was cooked by friend Rhiannon & Sandra, snazzy cocktails courtesy of Trudie, table setting by Priya and slutty brownies by me aka sugar coma. It was a hearty meal, which we all enjoyed before we started to get ready for our night out.

Good food – even better company

Night out: Hit or miss?

After lining our bellies with delicious food we headed to central for what was meant to be a great night out. We arrived in the queue in a timely manner for free entry. However, our spirits were quickly brought down when we turned away for no apparent reason. We quickly noticed that the rejections were, in fact, selective and aimed particularly at ethnic groups or people who according to the doormen didn’t fit certain criteria. After being ushered away like a bad smell and told to stand across the road like a bunch of rejects we were pretty disappointed.  We didn’t have a backup plan and were excited to turn up. After regrouping in five guys next door we headed to a familiar club in Soho called Club 49. We ended up having a great night despite the poor beginnings

Is a staycation really worth it?

Yes! I think it’s a great way to rediscover home through a different lens. It can often be much cheaper than travelling abroad. You also have the power to treat it like a holiday, pack a suitcase, choose a snazzy apartment or hotel and just live it up. I highly recommend indulging in a staycation once every few months, and I will be sure to do so. As I really desire to discover more of the UK, sometimes the most beautiful and fun places are literally under your nose.

Are there any great places you’ve been to within the UK that you’d recommend? Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time.
