Recharge, Refresh, Recommit

Austin, Tx

Hello beautiful people,

I’m back with another blog post and this time we are discussing how to set goals to ensure that you finish the year strong. Summer is officially over and we are now in the final quarter of the year and ending of a decade. This year has sped by, but I feel as if that’s a given as you get older. Not to worry though, it means that we should be seizing every moment we can to ensure we are living our best (purpose-filled) lives.

As we cross over into the final stretch of the year you may be scrambling trying to figure out what you’ve been doing for the past 9 months or you may be celebrating all those W’s. Either way, it’s a great time to reflect. If you still have a long way to go it’s not too late to head back to the drawing board. If things are going well, keep going it can only get better.

Myleik Teele dropped a summer refresher focusing on refreshing our hustle, relationships, and finances. If you haven’t already check out these episodes you will not regret it. This series really inspired me to use this summer to recommit to my goals, recharge my hustle, and refresh my outlook on my life. The episodes are loaded with gems so make sure you have a note pad and pen to hand whilst listening.

In the first episode, Myleik breaks down how we can refresh, recharge and recommit. One point she made which particularly hit hard was testing your truths. As we progress through our lives, we constantly experience new things, learn new lessons and meet new people. So why can we not change our fundamental truths? You have a right to change your mind.

Upon reflection, I realised that the year is not over and I still have the ability to make it great. Below are some of the key takeaways from this episode:

Refresh:

– Hit refresh on some of the ways you’ve been doing things the last 6-9 months

– Evaluate if your way of doing things has actually been yielding results, if not don’t  be afraid to pivot

– Make sure you’re up to date both professionally and personally

– Refreshing helps your confidence

– Constantly test your truths

Recharge:

– We need to get out of the habit of pushing ourselves to what we should do and instead do what we want to do

– A life of abiding by invisible restrictions which we set ourselves based on information that is no longer true means that we end up living a limited life. Do  better for yourself, want better for yourself

Recommit to:

– Get back to your why

– Reawaken that zeal you had when you first set that goal, if it’s no longer there pivot

– Work on your routine

– Say it loud how do you want to finish your year?

– How will you reward yourself at the end of 2019?

    – You deserve it

As much as I would to summarise every single episode for you, I’ll stop with the teasers and would encourage you to tune in.

Inspired by this series I thought that it would be useful to create a worksheet that you could use to set goals for yourself in whatever area of life you’d like to advance in before the end of this year. Perhaps you’d like to travel more, pick up a new skill, dedicate more time to friends or family or like me refuel dimmed passions.

From the 3rd of October we have officially 90 days until 2019 passes the baton to 2020. Just for perspective, that’s 3 months, 12 weeks, 90 days, 2160 hours. Imagine all the goals you can get into gear. That is more than enough time to catapult you into 2020, where you can carry on your good work. So let’s get onto the worksheet, shall we?

It’s only 6 pages long and the aim is to get you to reflect on the past 9 months, think about the areas you want to improve and create an action plan for them. 2019 marks the end of a decade. How do you want to end it?

Let me know how you get on

Until next time
